Here are a few ways to get involved in local coronavirus response and recovery efforts.

As a service to our community, The Kiwanis Club of Point Pleasant has compiled this list of opportunities so people can help others locally and regionally.

  • Make and donate faceshields: Our Kiwanis club is seeking these supplies so we can assemble shields and make kits for others to assemble. Please drop off or mail supplies, or Venmo financial donations. Learn more about this project!

    • Pt. Boro EMS has a collection bin at 1200 Beaver Dam Road, Pt. Pleasant Boro, NJ.

    • Point Pleasant First Aid and Emergency Squad, 611 Laurel Ave., Pt. Pleasant Beach, NJ. 732-899-0146

    • NorthStar VETS , a local contact who can take them to this animal hospital in Robbinsville (the Brick location didn’t open) Contact Stephanie at ssprague716@gmail.com.

    • Grace Healthcare Services, a Hospice organization. When done, email Volunteer@Gracehcs.com or call Kathleen at 732- 947-6801. She will arrange no-contact pickup.

    • Interim Healthcare, Pt. Boro: They need N95 masks, face shields, gowns, and gloves. Drop off in outside in at Interim HealthCare, 2401 Bridge Ave – Suite C2, Point Pleasant, NJ 08742, 732-451-3431, www.interimhcnj.com.

  • Sew and donate cotton face masks: Vintage Van Gogh’s is organizing "Make a Mask.” View link for tutorial and details. She will pick up or you can drop off to the studio in Pt. Pleasant Beach. Site is updated with donation information and more! 

    • Other locations you can donate cotton masks to:

      • Grace Healthcare Services, a Hospice organization. When done, email Volunteer@Gracehcs.com or call Kathleen at 732- 947-6801. She will arrange no-contact pickup. Masks will be laundered there.

      • Community Medical Center, Toms River: Pt. Beach resident accepting donations and has materials to get you started. Contact Meredith Amarando, 106 Washington Ave. Apt #2, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ 08742, 732.948.4637, MAmarando@hotmail.com.

      • ARC of Ocean County, Contact sally.stoneham@arcocean.org to organize dropoff.

  • Donate fabric for cotton face masks: Got extra 100% cotton sheets or other fabric at home? Drop it off to Vintage Van Gogh’s at 626 Bay Avenue in Pt. Beach, and the owner will distribute it for cloth masks!

  • Donate PPE: Donate existing gloves, gowns, cotton masks, N95 masks, face shields, and other personal protective equipement (PPE). These places need donations:

    • Point Boro EMS continues to answer calls for service, utilizing our stock of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). We are currently accepting donations for N-95’s, Surgical Masks, Tyvek Suits, Goggles/Face Shields. Please message us on Facebook or send an email to ChiefSquad35@outlook.com. We have a donation bin at our building, located at 1200 Beaver Dam Road to adhere to social distancing.

    • Point Pleasant First Aid and Emergency Squad, 611 Laurel Ave., Pt. Pleasant Beach, NJ. 732-899-0146. They need N-95 masks, surgical masks, surgical gowns, face shields, and cleaning supplies.

    • Pt. Pleasant First Aid: Needs N95 masks, surgical masks, surgical gowns, face shields and more supplies. If you have any of these items new and unused and would like to donate to your local EMS squad (covering Point Pleasant Beach, Bay Head, and Mantoloking) you can either message us here or call 732-899-0146 (leave a message) and someone will return your call to arrange for drop off or pick up.

  • Donate money for PPE: GoFundMe campaign at https://tinyurl.com/NJ4NURSES is seeking supplies so they can hook up 3D printers 24/7 to mass produce Ear Guards and Face Shields. 

  • Donate food: Beginning immediately, St. Mary’s by the Sea, 804 Bay Ave. in Point Pleasant Beach, is initiating an Emergency Food Project to make non-perishable food available. St. Gregory’s Pantry has temporarily closed, so St. Mary’s is seeking help to continue to stock the shelves. The St. Mary’s Emergency Food Project will need donation of non-perishable foods: Non-perishable canned protein (such as tuna, chicken, beans, etc.), Canned soups, chili, spaghetti-o’s, stew, mac & cheese, cereal, peanut butter, jelly, boxed milk, and snacks. Gift cards to grocery stores, pharmacies, or fast food restaurants are also very welcome. Monetary donations should be made by check to, “St. Mary’s by the Sea” noting “Emergency Food” in the memo.

    Groups or individuals wishing to donate may safely drop-off donations each Sunday from 12-3 p.m. at our entrance on Bay Avenue. Volunteers will be there to pickup and sort all donations which may be left on the steps during these hours of operation. No one need enter our building.

    For individuals or families needing food our only pickup day, at this time, is Mondays from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Anyone needing food is asked to contact 973-652-0852 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to schedule an appointment. We will prepare supplies for you to pick-up at your appointed time. Again, currently our only scheduled day for food pickup is Mondays from 10-12 at the Bay Avenue entrance. Mary’s Table will continue to offer Take-out meals from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday evenings.

  • Donate cleaning supplies: These groups need supplies:

    • Pt. Pleasant First Aid: Needs Hand sanitizer, lysol/disinfectant spray and paper towels.

    • Point Pleasant First Aid and Emergency Squad, 611 Laurel Ave., Pt. Pleasant Beach, NJ. 732-899-0146. They need cleaning supplies, Lysol spray, hand sanitizer, and paper towels.

    • Tri-Boro First Aid: Donate disinfectant wipes and sprays. call Chait at 732-597-6473 or reach her at stacey.chait83@gmail.com

    • Meals on Wheels: They need soap, hand sanitizer, paper towels, toilet paper, tissues, and disinfecting wipes. Drop off at Lester Glenn Hyundai/Chevy or Causeway Ford Lincoln in Toms River.

  • Take orders for groceries, shop and/or deliver groceries to local seniors:

  • Donate sealed lip balm and hand lotion: Brielle resident collecting for friend who is a nurse manager at Jersey Shore hospital. Contact her at Mom4Clays@gmail.com to donate supplies; she will give to nurse.

  • Donate cookies to local nurses: Local Daisy troop is donating unsold cookies to local nurses. Buy a box for $5 here.

  • Donate birdhouses, bird seed and shepard’s hooks: Residents in assisted living would like to see birds as they cannot have visitors, so the facility is requesting donations. Drop off at Arbor Terrace in Tinton Falls. Contact Dena -Engagement Director at 732-784-2400.

  • Send cards to nursing homes/hospitals: Many groups and individuals are sending cards or emailing cards to nursing homes and other care facilities for the elderly.

    • NJ District Circle K: Kiwanis sponsors Circle K college service clubs across the country. Our clubs in NJ have an initiative to send emailed letters to nursing homes in the state.

    • Angelic Health Hospice: For their Letters of Love program, send letters to Chelsea Goodman, Angelic Health Community Liaison, PO Box 92, Keansburg NJ 07734.

    • Interim Healthcare, Email cards to tlobravico@interimhealthcare.com and esmith@interimhealthcare.com.

    • Crest Pointe: Send cards or drop off at 1515 Hulse Rd., Pt. Pleasant Beach NJ 08742. You can call first and they can come out, or you can step into lobby to drop off.

    • Jersey Shore Medical Center: Local resident has a tote bag on her mailbox at 1405 Northstream Parkway. People can put cards in the tote bag or in the mailbox and she will deliver. Contact: bridgetcook56@gmail.com

  • Donate baby monitors: An online request for baby monitors, which help nurses in the hospitals, this request is for Jersey Shore hospital in Neptune, NJ.

  • Organize food crisis boxes: Fulfill in Neptune NJ needs help. Contact vmartinez@fulfillnj.org.

  • Send artwork/letters to a foster family: A positive quote or encouraging message can go a long way during this time. Like all of us, foster families are suddenly faced with children home from school, while also managing canceled therapies & parental visits. Create a "virtual postcard" by designing a positive message on a piece of paper, take a picture & send it to us and we will send it to a local foster family!   • Do some yoga: Join Kerry from Soul Purpose Yoga & Wellness every Tuesday & Friday 6pm or Saturday 8am for an hour of yoga & mini meditation to relax body & mind during these stressful times. All classes are held via Zoom. The app and account are free! Can’t make a class on the schedule? Create your own private group and message Kerry to discuss days/times. All classes are donation based & 100% of the proceeds go to support Mary’s Table in Point Pleasant Beach for the month of April.  Email Kerry at Kerry.soulpurpose@gmail.com to  receive Zoom link.
